WENDIS PAYS system uses shore-based vessel tracking and each vessel is supplied with an antenna. This antenna can be configured to transmit position reports via satellite (Inmarsat) at pre-programmed intervals.
As position data becomes available, it is collected from the antenna by the WENDIS Fleet manager server and is stored in a database. The data is analysed using WENDIS Fleet manager and will report back to the ENC server or the shipping company without the need for human involvement.
In order for the usage of a vessel to be determined, a satellite GPS terminal (antenna) is installed on the vessel. The terminal simply needs a view of the sky and connection to a 24V DC power supply.
WENDIS PAYS connects to the servers in order to receive this position information as soon as it is received from the satellite.
No other software installation is required on a vessel. Any existing ECDIS in use on the vessel can continue to be used as normal; it will just have access to the full PAYS portfolio of charts.
WENDIS PAYS can be used on ECS – Non-approved ECDIS as long as it is using ENC charts.
