The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has released its brand-new addition to the Code of Practice series which aims to provide guidance and interpretation of the requirements in order to comply with the regulations.
Hearing damage caused by exposure to noise at work is permanent and incurable. Many seafarers are exposed to noise levels at work that may be harmful. This MCA Code of Practice helps designers, builders, owners and managers of ships comply with the Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Control of Noise at Work) Regulations 2007. Based on HSE guidance relating to the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, it hasbeen updated in line with changes to related legislation, technical advances and experience. It covers:
