Based on the name of the place, the stories that can be linked to the name are told as a summary of the events that are significant for the name and place. The stories range widely in theme and time, but all are pieces in the puzzle that is maritime Denmark. The many shoals, reefs and flak in our waters are perceived by most people at sea as obstacles to sailing. They are in the way, and you have to sail around them to avoid grounding and capsizing. But they are far more than that. The names of a number of the obstacles go back in time. Today, they are memorials to events, people or ships that have had a decisive influence on our maritime tradition and on Denmark's history.
