The book is a combined textbook for ship's officer training and as a reference book in practical seafaring and contains chapters on international organizations such as IMO, UN, EU, etc. classification societies, supervision of ships, assurance of navigation, the ISM code and the ISPS code in a new chapter, just as port state control and certificates have been given their own chapters. A lot has been done to explain the meaning and structure of certificates. In addition, the 30 most important certificates are reviewed with reference to relevant clauses in the conventions from which they originate. Certificates can be freely downloaded from the website.
