We were founded in 1755 in Copenhagen by
Ivar Jensen Borger, making us over 265 years old!
Weilbach originally started making sails, flags
and compasses and in 1930 started distributing
charts covering the entire world.
In 1931, Weilbach became the official distributor for
United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO).
We have offices all over the world – Denmark,
Singapore, Egypt, UK and Canada.
In fact, we have two offices in Egypt
(one is Alexandria and one in Port Said)!

Our CEO is a Master Mariner and used to be a Captain.
Our AtoBviaC Marine Distance Tables are the standard
for marine distance calculations to the shipping industry.

Weilbach transitioned into a maritime software company in 2017.
We launched the first electronic media for commercial fleets in 2001.
In 2008, Weilbach published its first eBook.
This was the start of our digital journey.
The Fishery Yearbook was published for the first time in 1892.
We produced this important book until 2020 and it is our
oldest publication. The book contains essential information
for Danish fishermen.
1958 saw our first major chart contract with the giant global
shipping company A.P. Moller Maersk. We have been the main
supplier of charts and books for Maersk ever since.
Our 250 Anniversary in 2005 saw us being the oldest
privately-owned maritime company in Denmark – our
oldest customer is The Royal Danish Navy who have
been with us since 1755.
We love signs and sell over 1500 different types.
Our WENDIS family of software solutions was launched
in 2016 and the family keeps growing.
Weilbach acquired UK software company, CherSoft Ltd
in 2017 to strengthen our transition to a maritime software
We changed the company name to Weilbach A/S in 2019.
Before this, our name was Iver C. Weilbach Co. A/S.
We relocated our head office to a new office in Lyngby,
Denmark to give us a fresh new way of working.
Until 2009-10, we continued to produce magnetic compasses
and performed compass correction until the 1990s.
In the 1960s and 1970s the main activities of our company
were nautical chart supplies and maritime publishing.
